Newly published research in The Lancet Oncology lays the foundation for many patients with head and neck cancers to be treated with tailored therapies that are less invasive and to avoid major, potentially debilitating surgeries.

The TSET Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences has announced the awardees of the FY25 seed grant program. Each grantee will receive up to $100,000 to conduct an innovative research project over 2 years. FY25 seed grants will focus on 1) understanding and addressing factors related to obesity in Oklahomans; 2) promoting active living in cancer patients; and 3) simultaneously addressing tobacco cessation and physical activity.

The Hudson College of Public Health on the University of Oklahoma’s Health Sciences campus has earned reaccreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health. This achievement reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to high standards in public health education.

With a $5 million federal grant renewal, the University of Oklahoma is expanding the efforts of the Oklahoma Dementia Care Network. The program, which involves partners across the state, aims to improve health outcomes for people living with dementia and their caregivers through statewide geriatric workforce development.

Two University of Oklahoma researchers have been awarded more than $2 million in grants from the Hevolution Foundation to further their studies on age-related cognitive impairment, with an emphasis on improving “health span,” or the number of years a person remains healthy.
